M2E realizes man’s age-old dream of efficiently harvesting clean energy from ambient energy.
Energy harvesting—also known as power harvesting or energy scavenging—is the process by which energy is captured and stored. Current energy harvesting technologies envisioned for mobile electronics have either very limited power output for the supplied motion or they are too bulky for mobile applications. Additionally those based on RF fields have proximity requirements or they need a large collection area. The earliest energy harvesters—the windmill and the waterwheel—were replaced during the industrial revolution by electrical power generated by the combustion of fossil fuels in large, centralized plants. Ambient energy—sunlight, wind power and the energy in ocean waves and tides—has always been available but much trickier to harvest.
By harvesting sufficient energy from normal daily motion,
M2E—Motion to Energy—provides precisely the kind of clean, self-generating power that humanity has long dreamed of.
In larger applications such as wind and ocean wave, the generator innovation can increase the efficiency of stationary generators by retrofitting the M2E solution into the existing generator or building a new smaller and lighter generator that can provide the same amount of power. The efficiency, cleanliness and versatility of the M2E solution make it one of today’s most exciting and promising energy-harvesting technologies.
